Chris Columbus, the veteran director of Home Alone and the first three films in the Harry Potter series, is in discussions to direct Pixels, Columbia and Happy Madison’s adaptation of a hot Internet short.
Pixels was one of the Internet shorts that garnered Hollywood buzz in 2010 (the same year that The Gift and Panic Attack! made the rounds) and depicted 1980s video game characters attacking New York City.

Patrick Jean, who made the short, is executive producing, while Happy Madison’s Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo are producing with One More Production’s Benjamin Darras, Johnny Alves and Matias Boucard.
Tim Herlihy wrote the original draft, which was rewritten by Tim Dowling.

He is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson.
