GRANITE BAY-

Under Friday night lights, the Granite Bay High School varsity football team has added an extra piece of flair to their uniforms.

Stickers of a Placer County Sheriff’s badge with a black stripe across it were put on players’ helmets to honor Detective Michael Davis Jr.

Davis and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver were killed a week earlier during a violent, multi-county rampage.

Granite Bay High School Assistant Principal of Athletics David Vujovich says his school and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office are close.

“We have an officer, Deputy Joe Harrick, assigned to the school and a great relationship with Placer County Sheriff’s,” he said. “They’re here for us all the time.”

Del Oro, Lincoln and Placer high schools also had similar badges Friday.
