Bryan Singer has made some major X-Men reveals on Twitter over the past year – but this is undoubtedly the biggest. Literally.
The X-Men: Days of Future Past director tweeted a photo of himself Thursday standing next to a life-sized Sentinel, writing “Here’s to the next 50 years.”
Earlier this week, he unveiled a website for the fictitious Trask Industries – the manufacturer of the mutant hunting robots – which in the timeline of the film is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Days of Future Past, based on an iconic 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline, will feature two timelines – one taking place roughly 10 years after the events of 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, and another taking place roughly 10 years after 2011’s prequel, X-Men: First Class.
In the comics, a future Kitty Pryde’s mind is sent back in time into her younger body, allowing her to warn the X-Men about an impending assassination that will lead to militant anti-mutant laws and the rise of the Sentinels. It was confirmed at Comic-Con that in the film version Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine will be sent into the past, not Kitty Pryde.

The film is reuniting original trilogy actors including Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore. First Class castmembers James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are also returning.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
