One day after Oscar winner Mira Sorvino joined Psych, the long-running comedy has added a veteran comedian to the season eight cast.
Tom Arnold will guest star on the upcoming season of the USA Network series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In the seventh episode, Arnold will play Garth Mathers, a paranormal police consultant for the Anchorage Police Department. He has solved countless cases with his trusty sidekick, Bernie, who may or may not be an alcoholic. They travel to Santa Barbara to participate on the “Cutting Edge Consultants” panel hosted by Professor Stein (Bill Marchant) but when there is a murder, they help Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) on the case.
Arnold, repped by APA, hosts My Big Redneck Wedding and has appeared on numerous TV series, most recently Sons of Anarchy, Hawaii Five-0 and Franklin & Bash.
Psych is executive produced by Steve Franks, Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze. Mel Damski and Bill Callahan are executive producers. Saladin K. Patterson, Andy Berman and Todd Harthan are co-executive producers/writers. Kell Cahoon is consulting producer. Universal Cable Productions in association with Tagline Pictures produces.
Psych will return to San Diego’s Comic-Con on Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m. with the main cast as well as the executive producers for a Q&A session moderated by frequent guest star Cary Elwes. A special screening of the Psych musical will play for fans at midnight the night before.
