Sam Rockwell goes from hunter to hunted in the first trailer for David M. Rosenthal’s A Single Shot.
The preview opens on a bearded Rockwell looking down the barrel of a shotgun moments before accidentally shooting and killing a young woman in the backwoods of West Virginia. After finding a box full of cash near the woman’s body, Rockwell hires a low-rent lawyer (William H. Macy) to battle his wife’s (Kelly Reilly) divorce suit. Things turn ugly when Rockwell discovers that the money belonged to a pack of hardened criminals who will stop at nothing to get it back.
A Single Shot, written by Matthew Jones from an adaptation of his novel of the same name, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and later screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Tribeca Film and Well Go USA Entertainment nabbed the U.S. rights to the thriller, which will be released on cable video-on-demand platforms Aug. 20. The film will hit theaters a month later, on Sept. 20.
Jeffrey Wright and Jason Isaacs also star. Watch the trailer below.
