Michael Cera goes on a drug-fueled road trip in the trailer for Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus, directed by Sebastian Silva.
Crystal Fairy debuted at Sundance this year and recently screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival. It will be released theatrically July 12 via Sundance Selects/IFC Films.
In the first trailer for the film, Cera travels through Chile with a group of pals and meets a fellow American named Crystal Fairy (Gaby Hoffmann). Crystal promptly latches onto them as they make their way to the beach, where they plan to consume the juice from a legendary San Pedro cactus.
In The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the film, chief film critic Todd McCarthy writes: “Watching a bunch of people take a drug trip is seldom either entertaining or edifying, but Chilean director Sebastian Silva manages to make it at least tolerably amusing.”
