Ed Asner has booked yet another role as Santa Claus.
The prolific actor has been tapped to star in Lifetime‘s Christmas movie Papa Noel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Asner will join Night Court‘s Markie Post in the original TV movie. The New Orleans Christmas-inspired pic will find Post playing Lilly, a Southern woman described as salty, funny and filled with a life force, with Asner set as the title character.

24‘s Leslie Hope will direct the film, which was penned by Brian D. Young and hails from producer Daniel Lewis of Active Entertainment.
For Asner, the casting marks his latest gig in the Santa suit, joining Elf; Regular Show; Olive, the Other Reindeer; and The Story of Santa Claus.
Asner is repped by Greene & Associates, Perry Zimel and Diane Golden; Post is with Glick Agency and Perry Zimel; Hope is with Zimel. The movie will air around the holidays with a specific date to be determined.
