TORONTO – Stephen Greenberg is leaving the Canadian indie producer and distributor Incendo, handing over full ownership to co-founder Jean Bureau.
Bureau becomes president and sole shareholder of Montreal-based Incendo after 12 years in business with Greenberg, who will become an industry consultant.
Besides making TV movies in Montreal, Incendo is Canada’s largest TV distributor through a joint venture with Twentieth Century Fox — Fox/Incendo Television Distribution.
The company also handles theatrical distribution in Quebec for Paramount films.
“This was not an easy decision for me, but I have decided to step down and hand the reins over to my partner, Jean Bureau,” Greenberg said in a statement. “I wish Jean the very best and offer him my full support so he can ensure a great future for a company I helped build.”
Greenberg’s family also controls Astral Media, the subject of a $3.3 billion takeover bid by phone giant BCE.
