EL DORADO COUNTY-
Anderson Swift was arraigned Friday in El Dorado County.
The 41-year-old showed little emotion as a judge read the list of charges he’s facing.
Those charges include murder, carjacking and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Swift is accused of shooting Khrista Ibaroll to death early Wednesday morning, then stealing her car.
He’s also accused of trying to carjack Ibaroll’s friend, Kesha Patrice. The two young women were celebrating their birthdays when they came in contact with Swift.
Through his court appointed attorney, Swift pleaded not guilty to all charges.
“It’s his constitutional right to plead not guilty. That’s what I expected to have happen. The judge was very thorough in reading the complaint,” Bill Clark, from the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office, said Friday.
Swift has seven prior convictions dating back 20 years. They include weapons and drug charges and shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
His most recent arrest was in 2012.
Swift is from Oakland and his prior convictions all stem from the Bay Area.
Friday, we learned how he got to El Dorado Hills.
“He had stolen a car and carjacked a car in Oakland and brought it to El Dorado County,” Clark said.
The District Attorney’s Office says it appears Swift arrived in El Dorado Hills at random.
At the scene of that shooting, there’s a small memorial where community members are paid their respects to the woman whose life was cut short.
Swift is expected back in court on Feb. 2.
