EL DORADO HILLS-

The idea may not be as far-fetched as it sounds: the big ideas for innovation are out there, and so is the big money.

The play Monday was bringing the two together at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. That’s where the pitch met the putt.

“Out here today we have MBA’s presenting their ideas from business plan competitions, we have start-up companies, we have angel investors and we have corporate investors. And we have it in a fun environment,” said Jack Crawford, of Velocity Venture Capital.

Business gets done on the golf course, of course. But this is taking that to the next level. At every tee, different companies with different products were pitching their ideas to potential investors.

Chris Wiggins and his Glide Cruisers got the sweet spot at the 18th hole. Wiggins’ Glide Cruisers are like Segway scooters mixed with skateboards.

“We have an outdoor product that’s just super fun to ride, and what a great environment. People are out there playing golf and they can come by and take a ride.,” Wiggins said.

For Wiggins, it’s about raising capital (that’s money to you and me). For organizer Jack Crawford, it’s about making Sacramento a new hub for technology, innovation, and business.
