Ubisoft — the game developer behind franchises including Rayman and Assassin’s Creed — is urging its account holders to change their passwords following a cyber attack that was revealed Tuesday.
User names, e-mail addresses and encrypted passwords were compromised, but the company emphasized that “no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, so fortunately all credit/debit card information was safe from this intrusion.”

Ubisoft also said that “to our knowledge, no other personal information — phone numbers, physical addresses, etc. — was accessed.”
The company said via a blog post: “We instantly took steps to close this off and to begin a thorough investigation with the relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any systems that may have been compromised.”
In addition to recommending that account holders change their Ubisoft passwords, the company has also urged them to change passwords on any other website or service where they use the same or a similar password.
