TORONTO — Relativity Media and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse are teaming to release Intreprid Pictures’ horror pic Oculus in the U.S. The partners are planning a wide release.
Co-written and directed by Mike Flanagan, the film revolves around a brother and sister who find the cause of their parents’ mysterious death: a cursed mirror whose 300-year history has left a bloody trail of destruction in its wake. Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Katee Sackhoff, Rory Cochrane, Annalise Basso and Garrett Ryan Ewald star.

Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans‘ Intrepid Pictures produced and financed the film, which was co-written by Jeff Howard. Oculus made its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 8 to strong reviews.
Paradigm is representing domestic rights, while Focus Features International is selling the film overseas.
Peter Schlessel, Anil Kurian and D. Scott Lumpkin exec produced.
Flanagan, whose previous credits include the 2011 horror film Absentia, is familiar with haunted places. He hails from Salem, Mass., dubbed one the most haunted town in America thanks to the Salem witch trials of the 17th century.
Flanagan and Howard are repped by APA, Affirmative Entertainment and Nelson Davis Wetzstein.
