The story will encompass the birth of Christ to his Resurrection, with the adult Messiah played by Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado. The movie will take selections from the miniseries and add scenes that were left on the cutting-room floor, although Christ appeared in five of the 10 two-hour episodes.
Fox is eyeing a 2014 release date.
Fox Home Entertainment released The Bible on Blu-ray and DVD, and the title has been a hit since landing on shelves in April.
