LEADERS OF THE PACK: The grand total of No. 1s by Idols on the Billboard charts continues to grow. Contestants from 12 seasons of the series are now responsible for 403 chart-toppers, with the latest titles to achieve pole position coming from Phillip Phillips, Kelly Clarkson and Colton Dixon.
Phillips’ second single, “Gone, Gone, Gone” continues at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and this week sails 2-1 on the companion Adult Contemporary Audience tally, giving the season-11 winner his 17th No. 1. “Gone, Gone, Gone” has now topped five different charts — three in the Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) genre and two in Adult Contemporary.

Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath” falls off the Adult Contemporary chart and debuts on Adult Contemporary Recurrents at No. 1. This track from her Greatest Hits: Chapter One has also topped five charts. Previously, “Catch My Breath” was No. 1 on Hot Dance Club Play, Mainstream Top 40 Recurrents, Hot 100 Singles Recurrents and Adult Top 40 Recurrents. Clarkson now has 86 Billboard No. 1s, maintaining her lead as the Idol with the most chart-toppers.
Dixon’s single “Never Gone” is No. 1 on Christian Hot AC. This is the third chart where “Never Gone” has occupied the penthouse. It was No. 1 on Christian Digital Songs and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs almost a year ago in October 2012. This is Dixon’s seventh No. 1.
The success of “Never Gone” continues to fuel sales of A Messenger, which rebounds 39-33 on Top Christian Albums.

STRENGTH TO STRENGTH: Just seven days after enjoying the best chart week of her career, Mandisa continues her reign on Christian Digital Songs and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs, where “Overcomer” is No. 1 for the ninth consecutive week.
The title single from her latest album debuts on two other charts. It is new at No. 74 on Hot Digital Songs and bows on Heatseeker Songs at No. 17. The song still shows signs of becoming Mandisa’s first entry on the Hot 100, as it rockets 24-3 on Bubbling Under the Hot 100. On Christian Songs, “Overcomer” is up 4-3 and looks like a potential No. 1. On Christian Adult Contemporary, the hit continues at No. 4.
All of this current success is helping an older Mandisa single move back up the Christian Digital Songs chart. “Stronger” surges to 46-38.

BITS AND PIECES: Phillips’ new single “Where We Came From” improves 25-23 on Triple A. Scotty McCreery’s “See You Tonight” lifts 45-41 on Hot Country Songs. On that same chart, Clarkson’s latest, “Tie It Up,” maintains at No. 42. Fantasia’s Side Effects of You continues its rebound on the Billboard 200, where it jumps 125-115.
