YOLO COUNTY-
An El Macero couple says Monday night’s lightning split a large tree in their front yard.
Chris Ferragamo and his wife, Tracy, say they were inside and watching the rain when they heard a “huge clap.”
“Our neighbors texted us and said that they saw our tree get hit by lightning,” Tracy Ferragamo said.
The lightning had split the tree between its two major limbs. The Ferragamos had gone out to see what had happened when the tree was still relatively intact.
“About 45 minutes later, we were walking back up into our driveway and heard another couple of big cracks, and the big limb just fell down,” Chris Ferragamo said. He said that Tracy had been hugging the tree not long before the crash.
The Ferragamos are thankful that no one was hurt, including their neighbor with triplets, and say a car is usually parked where the limb fell.
