BUDAPEST — Scooter Braun, the music management phenom whose client list includes Justin Bieber, Carley Rae Jepsen and The Wanted, has teamed with Canadian production group Marble Media to adapt the Romanian music talent show format Mom Made Me a Star for the North American market.
The show, which first aired on Romania’s Prima TV network last year, is a talent show along the lines of American Idol and The Voice with a catch: The 11 young talents competing are judged by their own mothers.
Complicated mother-child relationships and stage issues are key elements of the show’s dynamic.
The adaptation deal was signed with Tim Crescenti‘s format group Small World IFT, which is handling international rights to the Romanian show. Small World picked up Mom Made Me a Star from Romanian producers Media Factory, whose lineup includes such hits as Miss Country Girl, a makeover format that Small World has sold strongly worldwide.
