Madrid – The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet from French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet has been chosen to close the San Sebastian Film Festival, out of competition, on September 28, organizers said on Thursday. It will be the film’s world premiere.
STORY: Imax to Show Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s ‘The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet’ in France
Starring Helena Bonham Carter, Judy Davis and Kyle Catlett as the title character, the film tells the story of a 12-year old science prodigy and mapmaker who hops a freight train to cross the U.S. to accept a scientific prize from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. The movie is based on a novel by U.S. author Reif Larsen.
Jeunet, who gained fame for 1991’s Delicatessen and 2001’s Amelie, has won six Cesar awards in France. Amelie earned five Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Screenplay for Jeunet.
