CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves said the company did everything it could to keep Cote de Pablo on NCIS.
Speaking to reporters Monday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, the executive noted it was the actress’ decision to exit TV’s No. 1 drama.

“We offered Cote de Pablo a lot of money — then we offered her even more money,” he said. “We really didn’t want to lose her; we love her. We think she’s terrific. We obviously were in discussions, and ultimately she decided she didn’t want to do the show. It was her decision. We don’t like losing anybody. We did everything humanly possible, and we exhausted every opportunity. Ultimately she decided she didn’t want to do the show.”
The actress, one of the longest-running players on the drama, announced July 10 that she was exiting the series. The drama, which regularly draws more than 20 million viewers a week, will wrap up Ziva David’s storyline at the start of the fall season.
CBS gave NCIS an early renewal in February, simultaneously re-upping with star and executive producer Mark Harmon.
