BERLIN – The Tunnel, the hotly anticipated British-French adaptation of the hit Nordic crime series The Bridge, will have its world premiere at international TV market MIPCOM on Oct. 7.
The series stars Game of Thrones actor Stephen Dillane and French actress Clemence Poesy (Birdsong) as police officers on opposite sides of the British/French border who are forced to work together to solve a murder when a body is found in the tunnel that links England with France. Tom Bateman, Cedric Vieira and Sigrid Bouaziz also star. The cast will attend MIPCOM for the world premiere.

The directors of the first season include Dominik Moll (With a Friend Like Harry), Hettie MacDonald (White Girl), Thomas Vincent (Borgia), Udayan Prasad (The Yellow Handkerchief) and Philip Martin (Birdsong).
The Tunnel is based on the same Nordic series as FX’s The Bridge, starring Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir, set on the U.S./Mexican border.
The original version of the show, a Danish/Swedish co-production, featured a body being found on the bridge that links those two countries.
The Tunnel is produced by Sky Atlantic and Canal+ and co-produced by Kudos, the BAFTA-award winning producers of hit ITV series Broadchurch. Shine International is selling the series worldwide at MIPCOM. Sky Atlantic will broadcast The Tunnel in the U.K. in October with the French broadcast to follow in November on Canal+.
MIPCOM runs in Cannes Oct. 7-10.
