Created in 2011, the FWI is designed to nurture writers with diverse voices, backgrounds and life experiences in a bid to create a pipeline of well-rounded talent for potential staffing on Fox projects.
This year, Fox Audience Strategy expanded is program to provide opportunities across multiple Fox companies including Harper Collins and 20th Century Fox Film.
“The Fox Writers Intensive program is an incredible resource for discovering new talents,” said Eric Schrier, president of original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. “We’re pleased to have recruited Yule as our first FWI fellow, and are eager to have him join the team of gifted writers who’ve made FX the home of so many critically acclaimed programs.”
Finalists in the FWI spent four months participating in a rigorous curriculum, administered by FWI partner Film Independent, honing their skills. The program featured sessions with writers and producers, including Hart Hanson (Bones), Andre and Maria Jacquemetton (Mad Men), Dave Finkel and Brett Baer (New Girl) and Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead).
