ShowEast will honor Relativity Media president of worldwide distribution Kyle Davies and RealD chairman and co-founder Michael V. Lewis with special awards at the annual theater owners convention.
Davies, who has served as Relativity’s president of worldwide distribution since 2011, will receive the 2013 Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award, given annually since 1987 to a movie industry leader who has distinguished him or herself in the philanthropic community.

“Kyle has been at the forefront in supporting humanitarian and charitable organizations both within and outside the cinema exhibition and distribution communities and we are pleased to honor him with this prestigious award,” Robert Sunshine, co-managing director of ShowEast, said in a statement.
Lewis, who built RealD’s pioneering 3D cinema technology into the world’s largest 3D cinema platform, will be honored with the Special Award of Achievement for Technical Contributions to the Motion Picture Industry.
Says Andrew Sunshine, co-managing director of ShowEast: “Michael is an innovator and visionary who has brought visual technologies to market that have truly redefined the cinema industry.”

Both awards will be presented on Thursday, Oct. 24, at ShowEast’s final night banquet and awards ceremony, held at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida.
Approximately 1,300 members of the motion picture industry are expected to attend the annual trade show, which kicks off on Oct. 21. ShowEast is produced by Guggenheim Digital Media, owner of leading entertainment publications and events including Billboard and the Billboard Latin Music Awards, The Hollywood Reporter and Adweek.
