The mystery surrounding Survivor‘s 27th season has been solved.
On a conference call with reporters Wednesday morning about CBS‘ 2013-14 primetime schedule, entertainment president Nina Tassler said the forthcoming season will feature “the return of great characters and their relatives.”

It’s unclear how the concept will be executed — for example, if the relatives will be teamed up and work together, or perhaps pitted against each other on different tribes.
Host Jeff Probst revealed the “Blood vs. Water” twist on Sunday’s live reunion show but didn’t offer more details. That led to much speculation, with fans and former competitors hitting Twitter to share their thoughts.
“So… What does everyone think the next season of #survivor will be ‘blood & water’ I say family members!” Survivor: Amazon winner Jenna Morasca correctly predicted.
Probst gave The Hollywood Reporter a teaser about the 27th season last week.
“I’m very stoked about what we’re doing,” he said via email. “It’s another big twist to the game. Risky for sure but that’s what makes it so appealing.”

The move continues the trend of having returning players in the game. Two-time competitor John Cochran won the most recent season, the show’s second “fans vs. favorites.”
Probst also told viewers Sunday night that he was leaving the following day to begin shooting the new season.
Survivor returns to its slot at 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the fall.
