SAN DIEGO — The True Blood panel in Ballroom 20 kicked off with some footage showing off the second half of season six.
The footage showed that there’s a lot more death and destruction in store for our favorite Bon Temps residents, with many of the vampires locked in that terrifying experimental prison. It looks like Jason (Ryan Kwanten) will also end up in the prison and that Sookie (Anna Paquin) will be struggling with her feelings for Ben/Warlow (Rob Kazinsky).

Plenty of the cast was on hand for the panel, but a few major faces were noticeably absent. Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill, and Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Eric Northman, were both missing from Ballroom 20.

But the cast members — Rutina Wesley, Sam Trammell, Nelsan Ellis, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Manganiello, Michael McMillian, Paquin, Kwanten and Kazinsky — and new showrunner Brian Buckner, had plenty of stories to entertain the crowd who gathered in San Diego on Saturday.
Buckner spoke about the plan for the rest of season six of HBO’s vampire drama. He said they plan on condensing the number of stories on the show, in order to bring the show back to its “roots.”
Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide on the show, spoke about his character’s struggle with his new leadership role, which is dictating his sometimes-violent actions.
“Being packmaster is a pretty thankless job — except for the three ways,” he adds.

Kwanten, whose character was last seen doing super-human pull-ups after drinking vampire blood, revealed that he wasn’t using any wires for that scene.
Paquin even added that she would delay her entrance into the the scene so that he’d have to do even more pull-ups.
“Ryan’s muscles have muscles,” she added.
Nelsan Ellis, who plays the flamboyant Lafayette, gave the fans a treat by getting into character a bit onstage. He revealed his method for doing so on set.
“Rihanna and makeup gets me into Lala land,” he said.
Comic-Con runs July 17 – 21 in San Diego.
