WOODLAND—

A boy nearly 3-years-old was hit by a car and killed in the Bel Air shopping center parking lot Thursday morning.

Authorities were called to the Pioneer Avenue and E. Gibson Road center around 9 a.m. after getting a call about a child hit by a car.

First responders soon found that a 2 year and 11 month old boy was lying in front of the west entrance to Bel Air. A Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped next to the boy.

The boy was immediately taken to the UC Davis Medical Center, as he had sustained life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.

Police say that 67-year-old Woodland resident Kathleen Parker was the driver of the car that hit the boy. The accident looks to be an unintentional traffic collision, according to the preliminary investigation into the incident.

The crash is still being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call Woodland Police at (530) 661-7880.
