Director Pete Docter, an Oscar winner for Up, and producer Jonas Rivera previewed their next film for Pixar, Inside Out, on Friday at Disney’s D23 convention in Anaheim, Calif.
Inside Out, slated for release in 2015, involves a story that takes place inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl, and the various characters represent her different emotions.
Pixar revealed the characters, voice actors and animation tests for each. They include Anger, voiced by Lewis Black; Disgust, Mindy Kaling; Fear, Bill Hader; Joy, Amy Poehler; and Sadness, Phyllis Smith.

Smith and Hader appeared in character at the event. “I was in the neighborhood,” joked Hader, who also was on hand with some of cast from Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, in which he also will be heard.
Said Docter of the imaginative project: “We get to take you places that nobody has seen before, such as long-term memory, imagination land, and abstract thought, and dream pictures, connected by a train of thought.”
Disney also announced on Friday the casts for its upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory, and The Good Dinosaur.
The cast of the prehistoric creatures feature includes John Lithgow as the character of Poppa and Frances McDormand as Momma, along with Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris and Judy Greer, playing their kids, and Lucas Neff, voicing the protagonist Arlo.
Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy will join Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks in Finding Dory as Dory’s parents, while Ty Burrell will voice a whale named Bailey.
