LONDON – Elton John won’t be following the Rolling Stones this year with a sold-out extravaganza in London’s Hyde Park. The singer-songwriter has been diagnosed with appendicitis.
He was due to perform at a concert on Friday, topping a bill that also features Elvis Costello and Ray Davies.
The six-time Grammy award winner and Oscar recipient has also cancelled the remaining dates of his European tour.
AEG Live and London’s Royal Parks said the show will go on with the remaining lineup for free. Existing ticketholders will receive a full refund.
Other artists set to hit the stage include Gabrielle Aplin and Nick Lowe.
The show will be on the park’s Great Oak Stage, where the Stones played last week to rave reviews.
