In The Hollywood Reporter‘s review, critic John DeFore noted the film’s similarities with Greg Mottola‘s nostalgic 2009 title Adventureland, also a coming-of-age tale set at theme park.
The Way, Way Back premiered at Sundance in January and was acquired by Fox Searchlight for $9.75 million, sources told THR at the time.
The title is scheduled for release on July 5.
