CITRUS HEIGHTS-

A Citrus Heights man was arrested Wednesday, accused of selling e-books as a way to steal credit card numbers.

Court documents say Oganes Serobyan, 40, set up a “sham business” in Nov. 2009 called Link & Work Holdings, LLC. The business said they sold e-books online.

Between Nov. 2010 and May 2011, prosecutors say Serobyan’s company used stolen American Express credit card numbers to rack up hundreds of thousand of dollars in unauthorized charges.

Serobyan is accused of stealing 26,000 credit card numbers.

He also allegedly withdrew specific amounts that would avoid federal currency reporting requirements.

If Serobyan is convicted, he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison. He is set to appear in court Friday.
