Just a week after spinning off as a separate company, 21st Century Fox has announced changes for its television syndication and distribution unit, 20th Television.
The group will now operate under production studio 20th Century Fox Television, separating from Fox Television Stations — which will continue to develop and produce first-run programming. President Greg Meidel will continue to lead 20th Television, now reporting to 20th Century Fox Television chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden.
“This reorganization underscores the changing landscape of the syndication TV business, more closely aligning the distribution of our shows with our content creators,” said Chase Carey, president and CEO of 21st Century Fox. “I am confident that Greg will continue to be a driving force in capturing revenue opportunities for the programming we produce, including 20th Century Fox Television powerhouse brands like Glee and Modern Family.”
Stephen Brown will now serve as executive vp programming and development at Fox Television Stations, reporting to CEO Jack Abernethy.
“Fox Television Stations has achieved great success over the recent years and built a real position of leadership, expanding its footprint in key markets and bringing innovative programming to its millions of loyal viewers with investments in first-run production as well as news, live event TV and talk,” added Carey.
