Nightcrawlers, the upcoming suspense thriller from Bourne Legacy co-screenwriter Dan Gilroy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo and Bill Paxton, has been a hot presale title for Sierra/Affinity, with deals closed for more than two dozen territories out of the Toronto Film Festival.
The feature, in which Gyllenhaal plays a freelance crime journalist in L.A., has been snatched up by several major international distributors, including TeleMunchen in Germany, Australia‘s Madman, Ascot Elite in Switzerland, Selective Films in France, Notorious in Italy and CCC for Japan.

Nightcrawlers will be the directorial debut for Gilroy, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Bourne Legacy with his brother Tony Gilroy and whose writing credits also include Real Steel (2011) and The Fall (2006).
Tony Gilroy and Jennifer Fox, who collaborated on Michael Clayton, Duplicity and the Bourne series, will produce along with Gyllenhaal. Michel Litvak and David Lancaster also will produce as well as finance through their Bold Films banner. Gary Michael Walters will serve as executive producer.
Dan and Tony’s brother John Gilroy will edit the film and cinematographer Robert Elswit, a longtime collaborator of Tony Gilroy and Fox, will lens Nightcrawlers.
Gyllenhaal is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott. He most recently appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Toronto Film Festival entry Prisoners.
Russo, repped by CAA and manager John Crosby, will appear in Thor: The Dark World.
