Fox is going into business with the duo behind CBS’ Friends With Better Lives.
The network has handed out a pilot order to an untitledcomedy from Dana Klein comedy and producer Aaron Kaplan, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The untitled entry, previously known as The Bad Stanleys, marks a reunion for the Friends With Better Lives creator and prolific producer Kaplan. The multicamera comedy, picked up with a pilot-production commitment in August, is described as a family comedy told from the point-of-view of a working mother who is in constant competition with her perfect, stay at home sister-in-law.

During the development cycle, the project was described as a sibling comedy (with semi-autobiographical elements from Klein’s life) about two competitive brothers — one who peaked early in life and another who is peaking now — and their families.
Klein will write and executive produce the 20th Century Fox Television comedy, with Kapital Entertainment’s Kaplan producing. This marks the third collaboration for Friends alum Klein, Kaplan and 20th TV, who previously teamed for Daddy’s Girls at NBC.
The Klein comedy also marks the second pilot order of the season for Kaplan, who also has half-hour Modern Family-like comedy Life in Pieces set up at CBS. That comedy, from also hails from Friends With Better Lives writer Justin Adler and was based on a spec.
Kaplan is fresh off a massive development season that saw him set up more than 15 projects at various broadcast networks.
Including the Klein order, Fox now has four comedies in the works for the 2015-16 season, including Ryan Murphy‘s straight-to-series Scream Queens anthology. Last year, Fox picked up eight comedies and eight dramas overall.
