SACRAMENTO COUNTY—
Authorities are at the scene of a tragic accident along a remote stretch of road that has taken the life of two people, CHP says.
CHP tells FOX40 that the two people were apparently sitting and drinking in the road near Walnut Grove along Andrus Island Road when, around 9 p.m., a SUV hit the two.
Both of the pedestrians, who officers say were at least 18-years-old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV stopped immediately and told CHP that he didn’t see the two until he hit them. Officers do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The incident is still being investigated.
