Chris Pine steps into a role inhabited by the likes of Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck in the first look at Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
The first trailer for the political thriller, based on characters created by the late author Tom Clancy, has debuted. Hints of the Bourne franchise, the rebooted 007 series, and the old Jack Ryan series are apparent throughout the clip.

The film, directed by Kenneth Branagh, sees Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) as the young CIA analyst. Kevin Costner and Keira Knightley also star.
The title was written by Adam Cozad and David Koepp (Mission Impossible, War of the Worlds).
The film is set for release on Christmas Day but may get delayed to Jan. 17 to debut over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, sources had told THR.
