HE’S ‘GONE’: When it comes to American Idol, 19 is a magic number. That’s the name of one of the production entities behind the show and the record label that issues product by competitors from the TV series. This week, “19” takes on another meaning for Phillip Phillips, who collects his 19th No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
The song that ups the season 11 champ’s total is “Gone, Gone, Gone,” which debuts in pole position on the Hot 100 Singles Airplay Recurrents chart. The second single from The World from the Side of the Moon, which was just certified platinum, indicating sales of one million units, has already topped six other Billboard tallies: Triple A, Triple Audience, Triple A Recurrents, Adult Contemporary, Adult Contemporary Audience and Adult Top 40 Recurrents.
Phillips remains in sixth place among Idols with the most No. 1 hits. He is the male winner with the most chart-topping releases, ahead of Ruben Studdard, who has a total of 16. Here is the revised list of the top six Idols with the most No. 1s:
Kelly Clarkson 86
Carrie Underwood 68
Chris Daughtry (Daughtry) 39
Fantasia 35
Mandisa 21
Phillip Phillips 19
Phillips’ latest visit to a chart penthouse brings the total number of chart-toppers for the Idol franchise to 409.

In other Phillips news, his follow-up to “Gone, Gone, Gone” moves up on the latest Triple A chart. “Where We Came From” jumps 26-24 in its eighth week on this list. It previously peaked at No. 23 and has been bouncing up and down during its chart journey.
Phillips’ album moves back up two Billboard surveys this week. World rises seven slots, 39-32, on Top Rock Albums and ten, 117-107, on the Billboard 200.
MIND ‘BLOWN’: It’s an amazing thing when an album can get a new infusion of sales in its 75th week on the charts. That’s what happens this week to Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away, as it leaps 127-93 on The Billboard 200 and climbs 17-16 on Top Country Albums. Don’t be fooled by that one-notch rise; the album enjoys the biggest sales gain over last week of any title on the chart.

IT’S NOT ‘OVER’: Mandisa’s current single has turned out to be the biggest hit of her career. “Overcomer” continues to reign on Christian Digital Songs and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs, where it is No. 1 for the 12th week. “Overcomer” also rules on Christian Songs and Christian Adult Contemporary, a rare sweep of all four charts.
BITS AND PIECES: The new Daughtry single, “Waiting for Superman,” debuts on another Billboard chart. The song bows at No. 29 on Adult Top 40 … Fantasia has two songs doing well on the Adult R&B chart. “Without Me,” which features Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott, rebounds two spots, jumping 8-6, returning to its peak position in its 17th week on this tally. Meanwhile, “Love & Sex,” the single by Joe that features Fantasia, slides one rung, 15-16, but earns a bullet for increased airplay over last week … Scotty McCreery’s latest single, “See You Tonight,” continues to make gains. On Hot Country Songs, the hit is up 39-36 and on Country Airplay, the track improves 33-31 … Kellie Pickler’s latest, “Little Bit Gypsy,” is up again this week, moving 57-54 on Country Airplay.
