STOCKTON—

Police say that a woman working at a Stockton business was punched by a robber she tried to confront Saturday.

The incident happened a little after 4 p.m. near N. Hunter Street and E. Weber Avenue.

According to the Stockton Police log, the 56-year-old clerk saw that a man had come into her store and pocketed a bracelet. The man – 22-year-old Burron Roberts – then tried to leave the store.

The woman tried to stop Roberts, only to have him punch her in the face, police say. She fell to the ground while Roberts took off running.

Officers were able to catch up to Roberts a little over a mile down the road and arrest him on robbery charges.

Roberts is being held at San Joaquin County Jail on $250,000 bail.
