Ion Television has acquired the recently wrapped seventh season of Psych.
The deal for the 16-episode season also includes rights to future runs of the long-running USA Network comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Ion’s library already includes the first six seasons.
“As we expand our long-standing relationship with NBCUniversal, we are very pleased to make the latest season of Psych available to our audience,” said Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO at ION Media Networks. “We’re excited to double down on the bet we made by adding Psych, a show that has consistently delivered a wide range of viewers since joining our lineup in 2011.”
Psych has already been renewed for an eighth season, which recently had its episode order upped to 10.
Psych stars James Roday, Dule Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson and Kurt Fuller. Creator Steve Franks serves as executive producer with Kelly Kulchak, Chris Henze and Mel Damski, who also directs. Saladin K. Patterson, Andy Berman and Todd Harthan are co-executive producers, with Kell Cahoon as consulting producer.
