Divergent is set in a futuristic world where people are divided into groups (called factions) that each focus on a certain value, ranging from peace to bravery and intelligence. When an individual turns 16, he takes a test that determines which faction he is best suited for and then must decide whether to stay with the faction of his parents or to join another group and never see his family again.
The lead character in the books, Beatrice (Shailene Woodley), is a young woman who decides to leave her family’s group and transfer to the Dauntless, who focus on bravery. She is a rare individual because when she took the test, she discovered that she could fit into more than one faction, making her a Divergent, viewed as a risk to society.
After joining Dauntless, “Tris” begins to fall for her instructor, Four (Theo James).
Along with the panel, Summit will also have a booth in the Grand Hall, which will feature promotional items for Divergent.
Divergent hits theaters in the U.S. on March 21, 2014.
