Sleepy Hollow's re-commission means that its first season will conclude at the end of its current order of 13 episodes, similar to the scheduling of cable dramas.

The series stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, who finds himself waking up in 2013 New York after being sent on a mission by General George Washington in 1781.

Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, Clancy Brown and John Cho fill out Sleepy Hollow's supporting cast.

Fringe's John Noble and True Blood actor James Frain also recently signed on for roles in the fantasy programme.

Fox airs Sleepy Hollow's fourth episode on Monday (October 7) at 9/8c.

The show debuts in the UK on the Universal Channel on Wednesday October 9 at 9pm.
