Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee retired his 360-degree roller coaster drum kit on Saturday in Atlantic City, NJ.
The May 25 show at the Taj Mahal marked the end of the band’s tour, after which Lee tweeted, “Bye Bye Rollercoaster of Love!” The band reportedly smashed a bottle of champagne over the 40-foot loop that was used for the drummer’s eight minute-long, EDM-inspired solo.

Debuted during the band’s 30-year anniversary tour with Poison and the New York Dolls in 2011, the drum kit served as a revamped version of the percussive light show Lee used in tours during the late 1980s. The original spinning drum kit brought Lee out over the audience for his solo, while simultaneously turning him, his kit and drum riser at a 90-degree angle.
The 360, also known as the Loop, had a passenger seat for one lucky fan to ride shotgun with Lee at each show. Lee usually performed one or two complete rotations on the roller coaster himself, along with numerous half-rotations as teasers, before taking on an audience member for an additional two or three turns.

For fans sad to see the 360 leave, the band apparently has even crazier stunts planned for the future, as Lee tweeted, “Don’t you all worry! Just wait till ya see what crazy I got for ya next! #campgoodtime”
Taking the summer off except for a few make up festival shows in July, the Crue will be returning to the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas this fall. Their residency runs from Sept. 18 through Oct. 6, and according to their website, the heavy metal quartet promises “an all-new production” with “plenty of surprise elements and a set-list full of hits.”
