John DeLuca has signed on for a lead role in director Rhys Thomas‘ coming-of-age comedy Staten Island Summer for Paramount’s Insurge label.
Formerly known as Pool Guards, the films revolves around Harvard-bound Danny (Graham Phillips) and his unambitious best friend Frank (Zach Pearlman) who decide to work as lifeguards during their summer before college. DeLuca will play Anthony DiBuono, a young, hunky Italian lifeguard whose dream of joining the Navy seems unlikely until he forms a partnership with Danny that proves beneficial for both parties.
STORY: Retro Modern Style of ‘Teen Beach Movie’
Production is slated to begin later this week in New York.
Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn are producing.
DeLuca most recently starred as Butchy in the Disney’s TV movie Teen Beach Movie and currently plays the recurring role of Colin Farrell on ABC’s Twisted. Other credits include guest starring roles on The Secret Life of an American Teenager, Wizards of Waverly Place, Ugly Betty and 30 Rock.
DeLuca is repped by APA, Michael Kaleda at Bold Management and attorney Chad Christopher.
