SAN FRANCISCO (KTLA) — A 24-year-old man, whose father works as a security guard for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was stabbed to death near AT&T Park in San Francisco Wednesday night when a fight broke out about 90 minutes after a Dodgers-Giants game.
The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jonathan Denver of Fort Bragg, in Northern California.
His father works as a security guard for the Dodgers, the team confirmed Thursday.
Robert Preece, Denver’s father, is an Alhambra resident who is often seen on television because his security guard post is behind home plate at Dodger Stadium, the older man’s neighbor said. Preece was also a guard during Lakers and Clippers games, the neighbor, Louie Padilla, said.
One suspect was identified by San Francisco police as 21-year-old Lodi resident Michael Montgomery, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Montgomery was arrested on suspicion of killing Denver, police said, according to the newspaper.
The 24-year-old victim — who was wearing Dodger apparel at the time of the incident — stopped at a local bar with his father, his father’s girlfriend, his brother and another man after leaving the game in the eighth inning, San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said in a news conference Thursday.
