Teaching American History Grants

Elisabeth Grant | Jan 11, 2007

This past Monday, January 8th, the U.S. Department of Education began accepting applications for the Teaching American History Grant Program. The Department expects to confer 120 awards pulling from a total of $50,000,000 in funds. Local educational agencies (known as LEAs) are eligible to apply, but the must partner with an institution of higher education, a non-profit history or humanities organization, and/or a library or museum. The deadline for applications is March 9, 2007. Questions and concerns about the program and the application process will be discussed at a meeting this month in Washington, DC (see the Teaching American History site for more information).
