The first trailer for I, Frankenstein, the horror reboot written and directed by 30 Days of Night scribe Stuart Beattie debuted as the most viewed YouTube trailer of the week, according to Internet monitoring service Zefr.
The preview for the Aaron Eckhart-Yvonne Strahovski feature notched 2.2 million views in its opening week.
Also making a strong debut was the new preview for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Trailer No. 2 for part two of Peter Jackson‘s trilogy based on the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien novel garnered 1.7 million views for the week.
The movie’s first trailer was No. 4 in the rankings. Its 1.2 million views for the week gave it a lifetime total of 30.04 million.
Sandwiched between the two Hobbit trailers was the first trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire, with 1.5 million views (30.3 million lifetime).
Need for Speed, which debuted at No. 1 last week, fell to fifth with 1.03 million YouTube views (8.3 million lifetime).
The bottom five were all returning trailers: Curse of Chucky, The Hunger Games (trailer No. 2), Frozen and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, which recorded between 846,000 and 642,000 views each.
Rounding out the top 10 was the first trailer for Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which bounced up from 44th to 10th. The preview for the Thanksgiving sequel has recorded 50.6 million lifetime views.
