Comic-Con is quickly approaching, which means that panel, party and event announcements are arriving on a daily basis. The Hollywood Reporter has compiled a list highlighting all the biggest movie events hitting San Diego during the annual convention, which runs July 17-21.
Friday and Saturday are the heaviest days on the movie side, with studios bringing in talent from their tentpoles, including The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Thor: The Dark World, Riddick and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Wednesday, July 17
- You’re Next: The slasher from Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett will screen Wednesday night, followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers and star Sharni Vinson.
Thursday, July 18

The Sidekick: 3 p.m., Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom
The Sidekick, a “superhero” short film starring Rob Benedict (Supernatural), Ron Livingston and Lizzy Caplan, will screen, followed by a Q&A with director Michael J. Weithorn, Benedict, Caplan, Martin Starr, Josh Meyers, Richard Speight Jr., Jordan Peele, cinematographer Steve Lubensky and other guests. -
Summit Entertainment Panel: 3:50 p.m., Hall H
Summit’s panel will feature footage from two hotly anticipated films: Divergent and Ender’s Game. The panel for Divergent, the adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s popular sci-fi YA novel, will debut the first footage from the film. It also will include appearances by director Neil Burger and castmembers Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lamb, Ben Lloyd-Hughes and Christian Madsen. The Ender’s Game presentation will also debut new footage and feature appearances by director Gavin Hood and castmembers Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. - Escape Plan: Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger will attend this year’s for a special screening of their film Escape Plan. The fan screening will take place at the Reading Cinemas Gaslamp 15.

The World’s End: 10 a.m., Ballroom 20
Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright will appear at the presentation for the comedy about five friends who reunite for a pub crawl and get whisked away on a grand, world-saving adventure. -
Veronica Mars movie: 11:15 a.m., Hall H
The panel for the Kickstarter-supported film will take place Friday morning. Creator Rob Thomas and stars Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni, Ryan Hansen, Jason Dohring, Tina Majorino, Krysten Ritter, Chris Lowell, Percy Daggs III and Francis Capra will be in attendance. They’re currently shooting the project in Los Angeles, so they’re sure to have plenty of stories to tell about reprising their characters. -
Universal: 12:15 p.m., Hall H
Universal is bringing Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick to Hall H. Attending from Riddick will be the action-adventure’s star-producer Vin Diesel along with actors Katee Sackhoff and Dave Bautista and writer-director David Twohy. The stars of Kick-Ass 2 will be present for that film’s panel. -
Sony: 4:05 p.m., Hall H
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be featured during Sony’s panel, with Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb in attendance. The presentation will also include a panel on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and the upcoming Robocop remake. Directed by José Padilha, the latter stars The Killing‘s Joel Kinnaman along with Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson, who will all attend the event. -
Mortal Instruments: City of Bones: 4:05 p.m., Hall H
Screen Gems’ adaptation about a young half-angel warrior will be featured in Sony’s panel presentation in Hall H. Stars of the film, including Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, will be on hand. -
Metallica Through the Never: 6:30 p.m., Hall H
Metallica’s James Hetfield (vocals, guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums), Kirk Hammett (guitar, background vocals), and Robert Trujillo (bass, background vocals), along with director-writer Nimród Antal and producer Charlotte Huggins, will attend the world premiere of the theatrical trailer, poster and an exclusive preview of footage, followed by a discussion on the making of the 3D film.

Saturday, July 20

Warner Bros. and Legendary: 10:45 a.m., Hall H
Legendary’s portion of the presentation will include Godzilla and fantasy action film Seventh Son. Warners also will present sequel 300: Rise of an Empire and two of its highly anticipated films: 3D space thriller Gravity and The Lego Movie. -
Lionsgate: 1:35 p.m., Hall H
This panel will feature a presentation for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which hits theaters Nov. 22. Members of the cast will make appearances. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and is directed by Francis Lawrence, who is new to the franchise. The cast from I, Frankenstein will also be on hand to preview the Jan. 24 release. Footage from the film will be unveiled. I, Frankenstein stars Aaron Eckhart, Yvonne Strahovski and Bill Nighy. -
20th Century Fox: 4:15 p.m., Hall H
Fox is bringing Wolverine, which hits theaters July 26, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. There’s also promise of a special “surprise.” -
Marvel: 6 p.m., Hall H
Walt Disney Pictures has announced that the Marvel presentation will include panels on Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is the only panelist who has been named, but the Disney announcement promises “many special guests.”

Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival Awards: 11:15 a.m., Marriott Hall 2
Awards will be given out to the best in genre-related short and long films as part of Comic-Con International: San Diego.
