CBS is looking at another candidate for a new medical drama. Hot to launch an hour-long in the genre for some time, the network has handed out a pilot order to the New York-set LFE.
From the Dan Jinks Company and CBS Television Studios, the project is described as a “high-octane procedural” that focuses on residents trying to reconcile god complexes with their humanity at New York City’s top hospital.

The pilot is written by rising playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo and marks the second medical pilot CBS has ordered this season. (Doc adaptation Code Black was tapped just a few days ago.)
This does mean that another medical series CBS has been developing, an untitled project set in Silicon Valley from Jason Katims and Sarah Watson, is out of the running. The Hollywood Reporter has learned it will be rolled to next year.
CBS Chief Nina Tassler has been vocal about her desire to get a medical show on the crime-loving network, so Code Black and LFE go into the pilot season with that in their respective corners.
LFE also brings CBS’ drama pilot order to seven. With a stable lineup, the network famously has little room for new series each season.
