Paradigm announces the following client news: Production designer Paul Peters has joined new series Crisis. Directors of photography Mark Irwin is lensing MOW The Christmas Spirit (MPCA/Hallmark). Eduardo Mayen is the cinematographer on Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, a pilot for Amazon Studios. Editor Henk Van Eeghen is cutting Dominion, a pilot for Syfy.

Honored:
Fourteen engineers have been named Fellows of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. They are: Paul R. Beck, president and chairman of Foxboro Cable Access; Siegfried Foessel of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits; Paul Gardiner of Sony; Friedrich Gierlinger of IRT; Douglas Greenfield of Dolby; George C. Hoover, CTO at NEP; R. Norman Hurst, principal software engineer at SRI International; Chris Johns, chief engineer for broadcast strategy at BSkyB; Pierre-Anthony Lemieux, a partner at Sandflow Consulting; David Siegler, vp of technical operations for Cox Media Group; Theodore H. Szypulski of ESPN; Steven D. Tiffen, president and CEO of The Tiffen Company; James T. Whittlesey, senior vp of technology at Deluxe Digital Cinema; and Barry Bryan Zegel, senior vp and general manager of CBS Television City.
New SMPTE Fellows will be inducted on Oct. 23, during the Fellows Luncheon at the SMPTE 2013 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition. SMPTE Fellow Glenn Reitmeier, senior vp of advanced technology at NBC Universal and chairman of the ATSC Board, will deliver a keynote during the luncheon.
Appointed:
Technicolor appointed Sandra Carvalho as group chief marketing officer to be based in the company’s Hollywood office. She most recently spent four years at Bloomberg, as global head of marketing strategy and program management for their core terminal business. Earlier, she served as global head of marketing for Nokia’s business mobility group and global director of marketing and communications at BearingPoint Consultants. She also spent 10 years at IBM, during which she held senior marketing positions.
Promoted:
Cinedigm has promoted Vincent Scordino to the newly created position of senior vp of theatrical releasing. In his new role, Scordino leads the company’s theatrical releasing business, overseeing distribution and acquisitions. Previously, he served as vp of theatrical acquisitions and he will continue to focus on acquiring content and establishing distribution partnerships. Upcoming Cinedigm releases include Godfrey Reggio’s Visitors, which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival.
