SACRAMENTO-

Sacramento is full of funny, nerdy rednecks, according to real estate blog Movoto.

The site ranked 50 funny U.S. cities by different criteria: number of comedy clubs per capita, where comedians live and where comedians are from, the number of comedy festivals, cities used as settings for sitcoms and improv groups per capita.

Sacramento came in ninth, right above San Diego.

The River City does have a handful of comedy clubs, including Laughs Unlimited, the Comedy Spot and the Punchline.

Movoto also had high praise for Sacramento’s steadily-growing Comedy Festival. Since 2011, the festival has grown into an eight-day event.

Also, apparently, two comedy series were set in Sacramento. “Eight is Enough” ran from 1977 to 1981, and “Even Stevens,” which featured “Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf. Turk’s phone number in the hit sitcom “Scrubs” features a 916 area code, which has to count for something. Right?

Atlanta came in at number one.

Sacramento has appeared on other Movoto lists, including the nerdiest U.S. cities, the most redneck U.S. cities and the best cities to be single in California.
