You may know Wells Fargo & Co. as a bank, but do you know it as a blog?

The Wells Fargo Guided by History site launched in March of 2006 as a temporary blog focused on the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Posts covered topics like how to prepare for an earthquake or disaster, and how to put together survival kits. But the blog did well, and so Wells Fargo kept it and modified it to cover more topics. Many entries today draw from the Wells Fargo archives.

Over 20 Wells Fargo employees, including Wells Fargo historians, curators, and archivists, write for the site. Recent articles include “Pioneers in San Diego,” “Sacramento’s Library: Celebrating 150 Years!,” and “1875 Holdup in Umatilla.” The blog also makes good use of video and images.
