SAN DIEGO — The Hunger Games: Catching Fire cast made their first appearance in Hall H during Lionsgate‘s panel Saturday.
The crowd was fired up when a brand new trailer from the film debuted, showing all the action leading up to the Quarter Quell. As with the promotional footage shown before the first film, there was only a very brief glimpse of the actual arena. In the final moment of the tension-filled trailer, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) is seen standing on her platform in the arena, surrounded by water.
The trailer features Katniss dealing with the repercussions of her actions in the first Games, feeling threatened by the Capitol and struggling in her relationship with her friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth).

The panel included director Francis Lawrence, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Lenny Kravitz, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright and Willow Shields.
“She’s struggling from post-traumatic stress from the Games,” says Jennifer Lawrence of her character, Katniss.
Francis Lawrence, who is new to the franchise, said that the first thing he did when he got the job was to fly out and meet with the writer of the popular YA novels, Suzanne Collins.

Jennifer Lawrence, always blunt, told a hilarious story about a kissing scene between her and Hutcherson, which led to a lot of snot being exchanged.
“I’ll put it on YouTube or something because you have to see it,” she said.
The often self-deprecating actress had the crowd in giggles, sharing stories about her clumsy running, and the time she accidentally hit herself in the face with her bow.
She also spoke about her favorite outfit — the wedding dress. She added that it was her favorite “to look at,” and not so much to wear because it was massive, measuring five feet in circumference.
“And I’m not good at walking in giant dresses, as we know,” she said alluding to her now-infamous stumble at the Academy Awards when she won for best actress.
The Lionsgate presentation also featured a panel on I, Frankenstein.
Director Stuart Beattie was joined onstage by stars Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski and Kevin Grevioux, who created the graphic novel that the film is based on.

Some brand new footage of the upcoming 3D film was shown to the crowd.
Beattie told the crowd he wanted to reinvent the action scene, so he avoided using car chases and other common themes.
One fan asked the group why they decided to tone down Frankenstein’s look because in the footage shown, Eckhart’s Frankenstein is scarred, but not grotesquely so.
“There’s only so much you can do to make Aaron Eckhart ugly,” Beattie said, getting a loud cheer from the crowd.
Comic-Con runs July 17-21 in San Diego.
