ROME – Ombline, a drama about motherhood and prison from French director Stephane Cazes, was honored as the Best International Feature Film, while the film’s protagonist Melanie Thierry was selected as the Best Actress at the 12th Rome Independent Film Festival, which concluded Thursday.
The event, which featured 120 films from 40 countries screening in sex separate competitions, selected Mapa from Spanish director Leon Siminiani as the Best International Documentary, and it named Luigi Conque’s Transeuropae Hotel and Aquadro from Stefano Lodocichi as co-winners in the Best Italian Feature Film category.
Kosovo director Ujkan Hysaj won the Best International Short Film competition with Column, while Matilde from Vito Palmieri won the Italian Short Film competition.
The other awards selected by the festival’s 15-person jury at the eight-day festival are available here.
The Rome Independent Film Festival is separate from the eight-year-old International Rome Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place in November.
